Passage
2 Chronicles 7:1-3, 14

As Ohana Baptist Church celebrates 40 years of God’s faithfulness, Pastor Wayne Surface challenges the congregation about the consuming fire of God needed for the future. Drawing from 2 Chronicles 7, he explains that while programs and technology are good, only God’s power—the “duminos” (dynamite power of the Holy Spirit)—transforms lives. Using powerful illustrations with firecrackers and matches, Pastor Wayne contrasts having zeal without knowledge (fire without power) and knowledge without zeal (power without fire). He emphasizes that believers need both: the power of Christ within and a passionate fire for God that cannot be contained or extinguished. The sermon calls the church to humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, turn from sin, and offer themselves as living sacrifices of worship—so that God will hear from heaven, forgive sin, and heal the land. This message ties together themes from the “King Me” series with the church’s anniversary celebration.
