- Psalm 139:1-8
In this sermon on Psalms 139, we explore God’s all-knowing nature and His intimate knowledge of us. The psalmist declares that God has searched him, knows his thoughts, his words, his actions, and his ways. We discover what it means that God is omniscient—He sees us in darkness and light, knows our downsitting and uprising, and comprehends our thoughts from afar. Through passages like Hebrews 4:13, Matthew 9:4, and 2 Corinthians 10:5, we learn that nothing is hidden from God’s sight. The sermon challenges us to regularly invite God to search our hearts, to judge ourselves rather than wait for judgment, and to remember that God’s presence surrounds us completely. Whether in heaven or hell, God is there. As we recognize God’s omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence, we are called to hide God’s Word in our hearts, end our days with the Lord, and live with the awareness that we serve the King of Kings in everything we do.
