- Hebrews 11:32-40
In this sermon, Wayne Surface explores the story of the widow of Zarephath from 1 Kings 17, examining how God uses unlikely people in unlikely places for His purposes. Drawing from Hebrews 11:32-40, he highlights that many of God’s greatest heroes of faith are unknown to us by name—yet their faithfulness and significance to God is recorded in Scripture. This widow, facing starvation during a famine, gave her last meal to the prophet Elijah in faith, and God miraculously sustained her and her son for three years. Her story teaches us about trusting God even when resources are scarce, giving joyfully from our poverty, and understanding that God has placed each of us exactly where He needs us. Whether known or unknown, our faithful obedience matters to God.

good to be here with you this morning I want to thank those that are in the auditorium here and those of you downstairs as well appreciate you being a part of our service today i' like you to turn your Bibles to Hebrews chapter 11 Hebrews chapter 11 we're going to continue our series titled broken and we're talking from Hebrews chapter 11 about people that were broken and yet God healed them and people that were broken and God used them Hebrews chapter 11 is like going through the Hall of Fame of Believers it it's the it's the heroes of the faith and we've gone through and looked at all the great men and women and number of them you're very familiar with who they are and what they did in
their lives and each one of them even though they did great things for God were still broken people and yet God healed them and used them but now we're coming down to the end of the chapter in chapter 11 and beginning with verse number 32 and it says what shall I more say for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon of baric and of Samson and jeffa of David also and Samuel and of of all all the prophets and he he kind of gets to the end of his list here and he realizes I'm running out of time and so I just got to throw these names out here and these were all names that would have been familiar to them but then he goes on in verse 33 and it says who through faith subdued kingdoms rought
righteousness obtained promises stopped the mouth of lions quenched the violence of fire escaped the edge of the sword out of weaknesses were made strong wax Valiant in fight turned to flight the armies of the aliens women received their dead raised to life again and others were tortured not accepting Deliverance that they might obtain a better resurrection and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourging yay moreover of bonds and imprisonment they were stoned they were saw asunder they were tempted were slain with the sword they wandered about in sheep skin and goat skin being destitute Afflicted tormented of whom the world was not worthy they wandered in deserts and the mountains and
in dens and caves of the earth and these all having obtained a good report through faith received not the promise God having provided some better thing for us that they without us should not should not be made perfect when we were at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota we uh had some time and so we went around they had different displays there they kind of a museum and you go in the museum and there was pictures and uh of key people Dr Mayo and Dr Mayo's son and some other ones who were key in found founding the clinic and other ones that through the years uh were instrumental in some way or another and and so in those cases they'd have the picture of the person they'd have their name there and they'd
have a a little blurb about who they were and what what they did that was so significant but then there was another section we went into that was a wall with a list of names and this was just a names of people who at some point or another probably donated money or done something other special there at the clinic and and so you had this long list of Nam names and yet there was another area where there really was no names it just kind of was a a statue or a a a pillar to those that had been treated at the clinic or those who had been part of studies at the clinic you know the same thing is true with this Hall of Fame that God has here in Hebrews chapter 11 it it starts out with people that we
would know and people's names who were very significant in the Bible but now we've gotten to the end of the list not only are we talking talking about people that are not as well known but then he goes on talks about people that we don't even know their name it it's kind of like the Unknown Soldier monument in Washington DC it's like I talked about last week going up to punch bow cemetery and walking around and many graves had people's names on them the day they were born the day they died but many of them say unknown unknown unknown and perhaps you are one of the unknown Heroes of the Faith may maybe everybody doesn't know your name maybe you're not one of those kind of people that's out in
the front and everybody knows what you did but yet your life still has significance to God and through the scriptures we have many unknown men and women who were used of God but we don't even know their name even though their what they did is recorded in the Bible and so over the next few weeks I want to look at some of those men and some of those women because that to be honest most of us are going to fit in that category most of us are not going to be names that are going to be known throughout the nation most are not going to be names that are going to be known throughout the churches most of us are just people who have been faithful to God and God has used you in your life and you've
made an impact but maybe everybody doesn't really know your name and so I want us to turn to First Kings chapter 17 to look at the first of these First Kings chapter 17 and Verses 8-16 first k chap 17 and beginning with verse number 8 1 Kings 178 it says and the word of the Lord came unto him Elijah the prophet saying arise get thee to zerath which belonged to ziden and dwell there behold I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee so he rose and went to zapa and when he got came to the gate of the city behold the widow woman was there Gathering of sticks and he called to her and said fetch me I pray thee a little water and a vessel that I may drink and as she was going to fetch it
he called to her and said bring me I pray thee a morsel of bread in thine hand and she said as the Lord thy God liveth I have not a cake but a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruise and behold I'm gathering two sticks that I may go in and dress it for me and my son that we may eat it and die now you have to remember there was a a famine going on at this time in fact the famine had been brought by Elijah he had predicted led by by God that there was going to be a famine for three years in the land and and so there was really no food available and so a lot of people were starving to death and verse number 13 and Elijah said unto her fear not go and do as thou Hast said but
make me thereof a little cake first and bring it unto me and after make after make for thee and for thy son for thus the Lord God of Israel the barrel of meal shall not waste neither shall the Cru of oil fail until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the Earth and she went and did according to all the saying of Elijah and and and she and he in her house did eat many days and the barrel of meat wasted not neither did the cruise of oil fail according to the word of the Lord which he spake by Elijah and so here we have this lady we call her the unknown Widow we we know about her story but we don't know her name for whatever reason God chose not to give us her name he gives names of many
other people in the Bible but he did not give us her name she's just a widow lady she's an unlik hero hold your place in First Kings and turn over to 1 Corinthians chapter 2 1 Corinthians chapter two sometimes we might think you know I really can't do much for the Lord here here's a widow lady uh she's living probably in poverty she's got a son to take care of uh she's uh struggling through life and probably she thinks what can I do for God what can I do to serve the Lord she has no money she has really no uh time or anything else and what what can I do for the Lord in 1 Corinthians chapter 2 and beginning with verse number 26 1 Corinthians uh chapter 2 and that's not what I want there let's
try second let's see get my right place here 1 Corinthians chapter 1 and verse number 26 for you see your calling Brethren how that not many wise men after the flesh not many mighty not many noble are called but God had chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and God had chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are Mighty and base things the world and things which are despised ha God chosen yay and things which are not to bring to not things that are that no flesh should glory in his presence now you got to remember again Elijah called down on a famine upon Israel and the surrounding Nations later on is when Elijah is going to call down the fire
from heaven in the battle with the prophets of Baal and and uh it's going to do some really amazing things in the nation and yet in all of this here comes along this little Widow lady and and God says I want to use her a very unlikely hero because God uses the foolish things of the world and the base things of the world and things which are not to bring glory to his name so that means there's hope for every one of us here in this room it was also a very unlikely place in 1 Corinthians 17 verse 9 it says arise get thee to zerath which belongeth to zidon and dwell there behold I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee now God says to Elijah you need to you need to kind of hide out
because he was not not a popular guy CU he brought famine on the land everybody was saying come on Elijah bring the rain back and and so he had to kind of hide out so God sent him up North of Israel out of Israel into zidon and to this city and what's really unique about this town is this is Jezebel's Hometown this is where she came from now you remember later on Jezebel is the wife of the king and she is a the one who brought bail worship into Israel and and she's the one that calls for Elijah to be killed she said I'm going to make sure you die and and uh and so Jezebel the wicked king queen this is her hometown what what about you ever heard the statement hiding in plain sight I mean he's
God says you go to Jezebel's Hometown and when you get there you look for a widow lady because that's who I'm going to feed you by you know sometimes it's kind of hard to figure out what is God doing in my life go over to Philippians chapter 4 Philippians chapter 4 maybe you're not where you want to be I can imagine that Elijah was thinking I don't want to go there first of all it's not my country it's not my people and and this is Jezebel's Hometown and when God said go to zerath he's he probably thinking I don't want to go there and maybe you're the same way maybe you're where you don't want to be in Philippians chapter 4 and vers 11-13 it say not that I speak in respect of want for I've
learned in whatsoever state I am there with to be content I know both how to be aase and I know how to abound everywhere in all things I'm instructed both to be full and to be hungry both to abound and to suffer need I can do all things through Christ with strengthe with me after Elijah called down and called out the Heavens to hold back the rain and uh the king said I'm I'm going to arrest you he went and hiding and for a while God fed him with Ravens can you imagine your meal comes every day in a raven's beak you know he's bringing it maybe worms I don't know what he brought uh but he got fed by Ravens and then God says okay now I want you to go way up North out of the country to Jezebel's
Hometown you know what sometimes God calls us to places we don't want to be but we learn we need to learn to be content therein to realize that this is where God has me this is where God wants me right now see God put you where you are for a reason maybe you don't like your neighborhood maybe you don't like your job maybe don't like living here in Hawaii maybe you don't like something else about it maybe there's something you don't like about where you're at right now but the Bible says in Esther 4 and verse 14 for if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time then shall their enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place but thou and thy father's house shall be
destroyed and who knoweth whether thou are come to the kingdom for such a time as this you see this Widow lady she was where she was for a purpose for a reason now I'm I'm sure she wasn't happy I'm tarving to death my my son is starving to death we're going to die I'm sure Elijah wasn't happy and sometimes we may look at our situation and say I don't like where I am right now but realize this is where God has put you and God has a plan and God has a purpose for you being in that neighborhood for you being in that job for you being in this state for you to be wherever you're at God has a plan and a purpose for you it was not only an unlikely place but it was also an unlikely person in Luke 4
at verses 25 and 26 it says but I tell you of a truth many widows were in Israel in the Days of Elijah when the heaven was shut up three years and 6 months when Great Famine was throughout all the land but unto none of them was Elijah sent save unto sarapath a city of zidon unto a woman that was a widow God this is Jesus talking here he says listen there was a lot of widows back then there was widows all through Israel and yet God chose not to send Elijah to one of those widows in Israel he sent Elijah up north to zidon to one specific Widow in that town let me ask you a question if God had something to do here in Honolulu Hawaii would he look down to heaven and say there's a certain man
there's a certain woman that I can use God looked down from heaven of all the widows in Israel of all the widows that were nearby of all the widows in that City he looked down and said I've got one certain Widow that I can use for my purpose that's the way we need to live our lives to be that person when God looks down from heaven and says there's a certain man there's a certain woman there's a certain young person there's a certain couple that I can use for my purpose whatever that might be and we need to realize that God has a plan he has put you here for a reason and God is looking for a certain person that he can use for his glory and for his purpose you know what's interesting in James
chapter 1 and verse 27 it says pure religion and undefiled before God and the father is this to visit the fatherless and the widows in their Affliction and to keep them on spoted himself on spoted in the world God says your purpose is to take care of the widows that's what we're supposed to do by the way when you see a single mom when you see a woman trying to live through life and raise children on her own for whatever reason God says the most important thing you can do is to help them you can help them by providing financial aid you can help them by providing physical Aid and saying yeah hey do you need me to fix your car or change your oil do you need me to come down there and mow your
lawn uh you need me to come take your kids for a few hours so you can have a break we're supposed to take care of those that are widows those that are alone in life and and have those challenges that's what we're supposed to do and yet here Elijah instead of taking care of the Widow he's going to go to the Widow and says you need to take care of me wait a minute that's kind of reversed now remember this Widow lady had given up remember what you read back there she said I was going to go make some bread for my son and I so we could eat it and die she'd given up on life she wasn't this Godly person oh I know God is going to take care of me and I know everything's going to work out great and
got a big smile on her face like everything's going to be hunky dory and rose-colored glasses that's not what she was she was at a point where she said you know what all I can do is just die she'd given up Psalms 33: 18- 19 says behold the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him upon them that hope in his Mercy to live deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive from famine and maybe you're at a point in your life where you're struggling with a situation you say man I don't know what to do I how can I even serve God my life is just a mess things are just at the end I don't even know where to go from here but God took this Widow who really Elijah should have been taking care of
her took this Widow who had literally given up on life and says I still have something for you there an unlikely place is an unlikely person all an unlikely provision in First Kings 179 now listen to this this is where it's this is where the Bible has humor this is where the Bible's fun to read if you pay attention First Kings 179 God says to Elijah behold I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee okay this would be like me standing up in church and saying you know what brother measner God commanded me that you should take me out for steak dinner that's literally what go what God Said to Elijah and so Elijah walks up that woman says you're supposed to feed me now I know Jesus
would invite him people sell to people's homes for dinner but I've never been successful at that I I've never been really good at that and and yet here is God saying to Elijah go and tell that woman that I want you to feed me the woman who had no food left go to 2 Corinthians chapter 8 2 Corinthians chapter 8 sometimes we think you can't serve God because I don't have anything I don't have anything I don't have any money I don't have any time I don't have any Talent I've got very little myself and second Corinthians chapter 8 beginning with verse number one it says moreover brethren we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed in the churches of Macedonia how how that in great trial of
Affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded on the riches of their liberality for to their power I bear record yay and beyond their power they were willing to themselves praying us with much treaty that we receive the gift and take upon us the fellowship Ministry of the Saints and this they did not as we hoped but first gave their own s to the Lord unto us by the will of God see here were people that even in their poverty even in what little they had they said you know what it belongs to God and Elijah came to this woman as you read the story maybe we're not given the whole story but she didn't B she didn't hold back when Elijah said listen God commanded me you to
make me something to eat she went home and made him something to eat even though she had nothing left except just one cake for her and her son she gave it to the Lord and I hear Christians all the time I can't tithe because I have no money I I I I can't come and serve the Lord because I have no time I I you know you may not have much but what you have even in your poverty God says I want to bless that I want to use that she gave out of her poverty look at verses 11 through 15 of 2 Corinthians 8 now there perform a doing of it that as there was a Readiness to will so there may be a performance also out of that which you have for there be first a willing mind to accept according to the man
hath and not according to that he hath not for I mean that not that other men be eased and you burdened but by in equality that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want that their abundance and and also may be anly for your want that there may be equality as it written he that gather much had had nothing over and he that gathereth little ha No Lack you know later on God leads Elisha to a widow woman who is Rich and she built an apartment for him for to live in and and fed him so God can use rich people but God says I can also use poor people you don't have to be rich to give you don't have to be rich to be used by God and and and we need to realize that we can give out
of our poverty we can give out of our abundance look at verse two again of 2 Corinthians 8 now that in a great trial of Affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty you see that abundance say they didn't have anything but they counted as abundance what I have I can use to give to the Lord and so what time you have what money you have what talents you have you may not have much you may consider yourself to be poor in what you have but God is trying to show us that even in our poverty we can Faithfully give to the Lord in 2 Corinthians chapter 9 when I read Bible stories I like to read between the lines we're not given the whole story so I try to imagine what it must been like
now can you imagine Elijah coming up now again he didn't know this woman she'd never met her in his life he's coming to the gate of the city where the well usually is and she she's there getting some water and a few sticks so she can go make her last meal and Elijah the stranger the Jewish stranger not even from her country walks up to her and says listen lady you're supposed to make me my food first now I can imagine that lady giving him the look now you guys you understand that right it's when you say something stupid your wife gives you one of those looks like you idiot well do you think you are what what's your problem here you know I I can see her giving him the look like I'm supposed
to feed you when I've got nothing from my family and yet in all the story you don't read one complaint you don't read her mumbling and griping about it you don't read her saying well what about me I get the feeling she did this joyfully happily it may not like she was laughing I'm going to give him the the food that we were supposed to eat we're going to die without food in 2 Corinthians chapter 9 and beginning with verse number six it says but this I say he which sth sparely shall reap also sparely and he which s bountifully shall reap also bountifully every man according to the purpose in his heart so let him give not grudgingly or of necessity for God loveth a cheerful giver and God is
able to make all grace abound towards you that you always having all sufficiency and all things may abound to every good work as is written he had dispersed abroad he has given to the poor his righteousness remaineth forever now he that Minister seed to the swer both Minister bread for your food and multiply your seed sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness being enriched in everything and all bountifulness which causes through us all Thanksgiving to God I believe the reason that God chose to use this woman because she had an attitude is okay I'll give she didn't do it with she didn't do a stink attitude she didn't do a griping or complaining she just said well that's what God
wants that's what I'll do and she did it joyfully and that's the way we ought to give to the Lord we ought to give joyfully we ought to give out of our poverty now God abundantly provided and we'll talk about that in just a moment but you realize this for the next three years because it was three years after this point the famine went on so for three years what did they eat bread bread they had oil and flour which makes bread so for three years that's all they ate as far as we know now maybe they made extra bread and sold it and bought some meat that might be a possibility but Matthew chapter 4 and verse4 says but he answered and said it is written man shall not live by bread alone but by
every word that proceed out the mouth of God listen I'm not going to promise you that when you give to the Lord that all of a sudden you're going to be you're going to be having all these extra things she did get back every time she emptied that jug it got refilled she emptied it got refilled she emptied the barrel it got refilled it was over and over again and God provided for her every need but at the same time that doesn't mean she got meat and fruit and potatoes and all the rest of it as well God provided her bread this was unlikely place this was unlikely person it was unlikely provision it was an unlikely Faith go to First Kings 11 I'm sorry fir first Kings chapter 17 First Kings
chapter 17 I read my writing wrong First Kings chapter 17 now look at verses 12 and 13 First Kings chapter 17 uh verse 15 I'm sorry verse 15 and she went and did according to that saying of Elijah and she in her house and he in her house did eat many days see she went and did by faith what she was asked to do now I want you look back up at verse number 12 and she said as the Lord thy God liveth I have not a cake but a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruise and behold I am Gathering two sticks that I may go in and dress it for me and my son that we may eat it and die now again this is where you can pay important to the wording look at the beginning of the verses again and
she said as the Lord what what's the next word as the Lord thy God thy God he's your God now maybe she saw the god of Israel and she'd heard about the God of Israel but it wasn't her God up until this point it doesn't seem like it was a personal faith in God it's not like the Lord my God it's the Lord thy God is he your God is he your God in 1 John 5: 12- 13 it says he that hath the son hath life he that hath not the Son of God hath not life these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the son of God that you may know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the name of the son of God do you know God as your personal savior do you know that you have eternal
life do you know that you're going to heaven it can't be your parents' faith it can't be your church Church's Faith it's got to be your faith your personal faith in Jesus Christ is he your God have you trusted in him in Romans chapter 10 and veres 9- 10 it says if Thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and Shall Believe in thine heart that God has raised from the dead Thou shalt be saved for with the heart man believeth under the righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation in Romans 10:13 it says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the the Lord shall be saved is have you called upon him as your savior have you trusted in Jesus Christ and what he did for
you when he died upon the cross and was buried and rose again see she probably heard about the God of Israel but she didn't know the god of Israel personally and maybe you've heard about Jesus Christ and how he was born in a manger and that how as we're celebrating just a a few weeks that he died upon the cross and he was buried and rose again but he died to save you from your sins to give you eternal life and he needs to be not just God but he needs to be your God it needs to be personal and I believe she found God personally for herself it's also a tested faith we didn't read the rest of the story go to chapter 17 First Kings 17 look at verse number 17 says it came to pass after these
things and we don't know exactly how long this was was that the son of the woman the Mistress of the house fell sick and his sickness was so sore that there was no breath left in him and she said unto Elijah what have I to do with thee Oh thou man of God out there out Art Thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance to slay my son after she gives the last of her food to Elijah and she she's taking care of him all of a sudden her son Falls sick and dies and she's like Elijah what's going on I did what God told me to do I did what you asked me to do why is my son dying literally his breath he literally he was dead that's Faith that's tested isn't it have you ever had your faith tested I've
have mind tested things don't go the way you expect God I'm serving you I'm going to church I'm being faithful I'm doing all the right things I give money why is this happening to me and sometimes our faith can be tested and her certainly was you go on to read the story Elijah was able to raise her son from the dead and give him life again but it doesn't always happen that way does it in James chapter 1 it says the try of your faith worketh patience and it goes on through that whole passage verses 2 through eight and talks about how times our faith is TR challenged our faith is tried to see if it's real or not and her faith was tested and maybe your faith is being tested today but it was
also a growing faith in First Kings 17:24 and the woman said to Elijah now by this I know that thou are man of God and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth now she sees it even though this this jug and this the W Oil and the food kept coming back over and over again she really didn't believe until this happened and God wants us to grow in our faith and Thessalonians 13-4 it says we are bound to thank God always for you Brethren as is meat because your faith growth exceedingly and the charity of every one of you all towards each other aboundeth so that we ourselves glory in you and the Churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you
endure listen folks trials are going to come but trials are opportunities for you and I to grow in our faith maybe you're going through a trial right now you're saying God why are you doing this to me I mean I I'm living right and I'm going to church and I'm doing all the right stuff why are you allowing this to happen because God says it's a chance for you and I to grow in our faith but I want you to go back to First Kings chapter 17 look at the unending provision that God gave in verses 14- 16 it says for thus sayith the Lord God of Israel the barrel of meals shall not waste neither shall the cruise of oil fail until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the Earth and she went and did
according to the saying of Elijah and she and her and he in her house did eat many days and the barrel of meal wasted not neither did the curse of cruise of oil according to the word of the Lord which he spake for Elijah now we we know the story you're all familiar with that she had this Cruise of oil she had just enough left for she and her son and she took that crud that oil and she poured it in the in the bowl and then it was all in there and then she went in there and she got out of here uh she got some some flour and put it in there and she s you know makes it all ready to go and stuff and and she makes it and then she gets this Cruise of oil and and afterwards then she says okay I'm
done I made it for you Elijah but what about us and Elijah says okay go back and try it again so she went back again and there's some more and she went back again and there's some more flour you say well yeah but it was empty wasn't it and you yeah but it was just a little bit empty see it's just nothing left in there but then she went back again and she got some more oil she she make some for her son and she got more flower so she could make it for her and her her son is all well and it kept going back over and over again and even though it empty each time she emptied it out even though she did whoops little bit left in there but even though she did then she went back again and there were
some more in there and just kept going back over and over and over again you know that's what God does he provides for us day by day last night we were celebrating Hannah's birthday and I appreciate what my son Caleb said to her and reminded her that life is a was Jensen or Caleb both of them I think kind of talked about life is a journey one step at a time and you don't know what God's going to do tomorrow but you can trust him for what he's going to do today and it's learning to trust God's provision God promises to provide our needs Philippians 4:19 but my God supply all your need according as riches and Glory by Christ Jesus but we have to give him our first fruits God didn't provide for
her until she gave her all to him proverbs 3: 9- 10 honor the Lord with thy substance with the first fruits of all thine increase so shall thy barns be filled with plenty and thy presses shall burst out with new wine I want to challenge you you may say I don't have much I'm poor I don't have much time I don't have much talent I don't have any money to give but just say Lord what I have I'm going to give to you and when you do that God says I'll provide Bible tells us that when we give ourselves to the Lord then God gives everything back to us Romans 121:2 I beseech you therefore Brethren by the mercies of God that you present your body as a Living Sacrifice holy acceptable onto him which is
your reasonable service and be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you prove was that good and acceptable and perfect will of God that woman said I'll give you the last of my bread even though I'm going to die she gave her life and because she gave her all God said I will give back to you more than you gave to me Luke chapter 6 and verse 38 give and it shall be given unto you good measure pressed down shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom for the same measure that you met with all it should be measured to you again that's exactly what God did for this widdow lady later on in second Kings chapter 4 there's another Widow
lady that she takes a Empty Barrel and and fills it with oil and God fills it over and over every barrel she can find gets filled because she trusts in God and you and I need to realize that when we trust in the Lord he will provide but we've got to give him our first fruits we've got to give him our all people like this Widow lady we don't even know her name and maybe sometimes you feel like people in church don't know who I am but people like this Widow lady like you are the unsung heroes of the Bible of Faith people that give in Luke Chapter 2 there's a little Widow lady who came up and gave two mites less than two pennies worth in the offering and Jesus pointed that over out over all the
thousands and millions that other people people were giving sometimes you may feel like my tithe doesn't make a difference my giving doesn't make a difference but God says little is much when God is in it and the real unsung heroes are the ones who are willing to give out of their poverty not out of their riches that are willing to give themselves those who the ones that get back turn to Matthew chapter 10 in closing Matthew chapter 10 Matthew chapter 10 verse number 40 he that receiveth you receiveth me and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me he that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of
righteous man shall receive the righteous man's reward and who shall to give drink unto one of these little ones a cup of coal water only name of disciple verely I say unto you he shall in no wise lose his reward this Widow lady gave the last that she had to the prophet of God and God blessed her let me challenge you give of yourself to others when you take time to go and greet a visitor when you take time to reach out to somebody that's struggling when you take time to encourage and help somebody that's going going through a trial in their life God says when you give you become the receiver you'll always get back more than you can ever give to me
