- 1 Timothy 6:11-16
In this sermon, we explore Paul’s final charge to Timothy on persevering in faith. Paul calls Timothy—and all believers—to actively fight the good fight by fleeing from sin and pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness. The Christian life is not passive; it demands intentional effort and struggle. Paul then provides four powerful motivations to sustain us: we have been called by God, we have made a public profession of faith in Christ, we have the example of Jesus Christ’s faithfulness even unto death, and we serve a great and sovereign God who is King of kings and Lord of lords. As we meditate on God’s majesty and remember these truths, we find the motivation to persevere faithfully until Christ returns.
