- 1 Samuel 17
In this sermon on 1 Samuel 17, we explore David’s response to Goliath and what it means to see and speak with faith. While Saul and the Israelite soldiers were afraid and had lost sight of God’s presence, David demonstrated “faith seeing”—recognizing God’s reality and power in the midst of the battle. This faith perspective then led to “faith speaking,” as David confidently declared God’s deliverance. We examine David’s three key speeches: to the soldiers (verse 26), to King Saul (verses 32-37), and to Goliath (verses 45-47). Through these examples, we learn how to remember God’s past faithfulness, trust His present help, and speak with confidence about our own challenges and troubles, always taking God into account.
