Deposit These Things

In this first message of the “Deposit These Things” series, Pastor Wayne Surface explores what it means to deposit our souls with Jesus Christ for salvation and to maintain our spiritual account through daily deposits of truth, honesty, purity, and godliness. Using the banking metaphor from Philippians 4:8-9, he explains how we must first open an account with God through faith in Christ, then maintain that account by making consistent spiritual deposits—through prayer, Bible study, worship, and righteous living. Just as we cannot write checks without money in our bank account, we cannot draw upon God’s peace and power without making spiritual deposits. Pastor Surface challenges believers to memorize Philippians 4:7-9, examine daily what they’re depositing into their spiritual lives, and keep short accounts with God by promptly confessing sin and forgiving others.
