Read: Ephesians 6:10-18

Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:10-11

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

God wants us to put on our armor every day. This passage is not just an allegory or an object lesson. Soldiers that have been stationed in war zones like Iraq or Afghanistan understand this principle. You don’t leave your room at any time without putting on all of your armor! /It is inconvenient and uncomfortable but absolutely necessary. An attack could come at any time or any place.

We are in a spiritual war zone! We face spiritual terrorists every day. There are forces that want to destroy us and are “as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (I Peter 5:8) We need the “whole armor of God… to withstand” them.

We need to take time each day to put on the armor of God, not as a physical act, but spiritually. As you wake up in the morning and get dressed, pray through each piece of armor. “Lord, help me to be honest and truthful in all I do today. I don’t want to live a lie and I want to speak the truth in love. Help me to keep my heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23) I want to protect my heart from the fiery darts of the wicked.” Pray on each piece of the armor, putting special emphasis on those areas of danger that you know you will be facing.

Meditation for the Day: Think about each piece of armor and how it relates to your spiritual battle and how you can use it to protect yourself from attacks.

Assignment: Put up a checklist to remind you to prepare for battle every day.

For Fun: Find or make a physical reminder to put on the armor of God. Put it in a prominent place where you will see it. If you have children, make your own armor and have a battle. Use the activity as a teaching opportunity with your children.
